Iranians in GB Shows the Way

Filed under: Iran, UK — limewoody @ 6:34 pm

London is now well and truly gripped by World Cup fever.  It's not just the England supporters though.  The city's various expatriate communities are gathering in local pubs to watch their teams play.  The Japanese in Acton,  the Poles in Ealing,  the Koreans in New Malden and the Australians pretty much everywhere are flying their flags and singing their national anthems before the matches start.

London's Iranians are at it too but there is a difference.  Many are choosing to fly the pre-Islamic Sun and Lion flag and, when the national anthem is played,  to sing  'Ey Iran, Marze Por Gohar',  the pre-1979 anthem.
